To toast to the launch of CULTURED China, a new edition of the magazine, we gathered our favorite fashion, art, and design insiders at the Blond.
The Occasion: The unveiling of CULTURED China—an expansion of the magazine’s global dialogue with the art and fashion worlds, buoyed by local voices and creatives in Beijing.
The Locale: The Blond, SoHo’s sultry lounge tucked inside 11 Howard, where arched windows frame the city skyline and deep wood paneling backgrounds its chicest guests.
The Crowd: CULTURED China‘s Shirley Zhang, Gong Cheng, and Lesley Zang; designers Prabal Gurung, Bach Mai, Allina Liu, and Kim Shui; entrepreneurs Tina Craig and Eny Lee Parker; gallery directors Elisabeth Johs, Lucy Liu, Rachel Uffner, Rachel Jennings, Hannah Traore, Freja Harrell, and Silke Lindner; writers Zoe Ruffner, Isiah Magsino, and John Ortved; cultural commentator Wesley Breed, artists Wes Aderhold and Jonathan Gardenhire, and chef Angie Mar.
The Entertainment: A musical performance from Zhang Xiaoqing, whose singing swelled from hypnotic to transcendent, keeping the energy lively and abuzz as guests lingered into the night.
What You Missed: An intimate meeting of the minds across cultures and industries—art world movers and shakers, fashion insiders and design leaders, and publishing powerhouses mingled under one roof.
Parting Gift: Issues of the September issue of the magazine were on-site to flip through and then slyly take home. (And if you missed out, they’re also available for purchase here.)
