As rain fell over New York last night, a coterie of artists, fashion insiders, and magazine editors took refuge in Brasserie Fouquet’s. The French eatery in Tribeca played host to a celebration of fragrance house Mind Games’s second year in business, and the launch of its Perfumer Extraordinaire collection.
“It’s incredible how much you’ve accomplished in a short time,” said CULTURED Editor-in-Chief Sarah Harrelson, co-host of the evening, in her remarks. “I was fortunate to meet three of your perfumers tonight and they told me, ‘At Mind Games, it’s total creative freedom.’”
In addition to the house’s team, the crowd included the company’s founder Alex Shalbaf, his wife and Creative Director Mariana, artists Mickalene Thomas and Sasha Gordon, entrepreneur Robert Verdi, Kasmin’s Molly Taylor, curator Alexandra Cunningham Cameron, Sotheby’s Kimberly Pirtle, and model Alioune Badara Fall.
After a cocktail hour—in which attendees were invited to sample the Perfumer Extraordinaire collection, consisting of the amber-infused Mentor scent and floral Prodigy—the room sat for a feast of filet mignon topped off with an apple crumble soufflé. During the meal, singer Wallette emerged for a performance. “Let’s get back to the simple things,” she mused, before inviting her audience to join her in a call-and-response song, which they did so riotously.
At the end of the evening, guests shook their umbrellas back out and headed into the night with one of the Mind Games’s new double-wick candles from the home collection, a perfect token for the impending chilly months spent indoors.
