As the sunset light filled the West Village home of designer Veronica de Piante last night, guests from the worlds of fashion and art converged to celebrate her eponymous brand's launch on the retail platform Net-A-Porter. The restored townhouse, built in 1855 to house 12 studio apartments, was brought back to life under de Piante’s care, and its walls now play host to a formidable collection that includes works from Cecily Brown, Tracey Emin, Pablo Picasso, and Rita Ackermann alongside pieces by her own children. The space also welcomes the occasional star-studded fête.

Dinner was devised and prepared by the legendary Argentine chef Francis Mallmann, best known for his rugged open-fire barbecues and devotion to traditional Patagonian cuisine. On this night, he prepared a hanging roast, wild salmon, and an heirloom tomato salad, all met with great enthusiasm by his audience, who sat around a table laden with the chef's signature abundance of decorative citrus, and de Piante's own collection of eclectic tableware.

New friendships unfolded across a candlelit dinner table, and after the meal guests returned to the living room, where photographer Andrew Tess snapped pithy Polaroids of the group, inviting them to autograph their own images.

The evening was a fitting homage to a meaningful moment in de Piante’s fashion evolution. Just a year after its launch in the fall of 2022, her modern yet sumptuous womenswear line is entering an exclusive partnership with Net-A-Porter to feature select styles from the debut collection online.

The news comes after the luxury retailer dubbed de Piante “the new name to know” in fashion following her namesake brand's launch, a moniker that acknowledges not only de Piante's eye for sharp tailoring and classic silhouettes but also her unique approach to production. Back in June, de Piante spoke to CULTURED about the support from Net-A-Porter, saying “Of course, it’s incredibly flattering. It gives me a lot of encouragement … I just want to keep it authentic.”
