The rumors started at the door. James Bond was in attendance or at least Pierce Brosnan. And he wasn’t the only celebrity. The Pioneer Works annual fête felt like a kind of Hollywood roll call with both Gyllenhaals and High Maintenance’s Ben Sinclair as well as New York’s hometown celebrity, Mayor Bill de Blasio all at the party. The stars were mirrored on the industrial height ceiling of the Red Hook building by a hanging light installation which served as the evening’s chandelier. When dessert hit, Maxwell took to the aisle performing before the after-party filtered in and the party moved onto every floor of the renovated factory. We got lost in the smoke and mirrors of the illusion filled evening.
