Last night, artists Rashid Johnson and Sheree Hovsepian welcomed the Guggenheim Museum’s closest supporters to their East Hampton home for the museum’s annual summer cocktail gathering. The occasion toasted the launch of the Guggenheim Constellation Council, a newly formed philanthropic group offering global access across the museum’s institutions. The evening also honored A Poem for Deep Thinkers, Johnson’s acclaimed mid-career survey on view at the museum through January 2026.

The Scene: The art world, off duty, gathering throughout Johnson and Hovsepian’s East Hampton home and lush gardens.

The Crowd: Gallerist David Kordansky, Hauser & Wirth President Marc Payot, collectors Alan and Alessandra Mnuchin, Guggenheim Curators Circle Co-Chair Irene Kim, Guggenheim Director and CEO Dr. Mariët Westermann, Chanel Arts, Culture, and Heritage President Yana Peel, arts patron George Wells, and CULTURED New York Arts Editor Jacoba Urist.

Food and Drink: Lemonade with a thimble of tequila became the evening’s signature sip—refreshing, casual, and with a dash of fun.

Memorable Moment: The hosts’s Australian Labradoodle wove through the group toward the evening’s close, sending attendees off with a dose of East End hospitality.

What You Missed: As soft evening light stretched over the hedges, Johnson addressed the crowd with his signature wit, offering deep gratitude to those who have supported him up to this point in his career, as well to those involved in his latest exhibition.

Cause for FOMO: The living room would have been a recognizable setting for fans of the artist, as it starred in his 2024 film Sanguine, currently on view at the Guggenheim as part of Johnson’s exhibition.
