About Cultured Logo

CULTURED is a leading voice for inspiration and a trusted vehicle for discovery at the intersection of art, design, and style. Since its founding in 2011 by Sarah Harrelson, CULTURED has become a bellwether showcasing emerging talents before they become household names.

CULTURED publishes an oversize luxury print magazine five times a year, special print issues dedicated to key cultural locales and events, exclusive web coverage on topics ranging from fashion to travel to food, and social media content that takes readers to the front row of fashion weeks around the world and inside the VIP previews of top art fairs. The team also creates bespoke events around important cultural moments for partners such as Bottega Veneta, Givenchy, and Prada.

The magazine regularly collaborates with such agenda-setting writers, stylists, and photographers as Hilton Als, Rachel Cargle, and Daniel Arnold. Recent cover stars include Fran Lebowitz, Hari Nef, Emily Ratajkowski, and Mia Goth.

CULTURED operates out of Los Angeles and New York with additional staff in Miami and London and contributors across the globe. Through its widely read annual lists of young artists, collectors, designers, photographers, and architects, as well as dynamic trend stories, branded columns, and discourse-shaping essays, the publication has become an essential destination for what is next in culture.

EDITORIAL TEAM

Founder | Editor-in-Chief

SARAH G. HARRELSON

Sarah Harrelson is the founder and editor-in-chief of CULTURED magazine. Since founding the publication in 2011, she has built CULTURED into a success story in independent publishing at the intersection of art, design, and Hollywood thanks in large part to her penchant for talent discovery and ability to connect top players in industries seeking to align with culture.

Harrelson moved to Miami to start her career as a newspaper reporter and later took on the role of editor-in-chief of Art Basel magazine. She launched CULTURED with the goal of creating a publication that gives readers the chance to truly discover talent at a time when many publishing juggernauts reserve cover slots for familiar faces. Harrelson lives in Los Angeles with her husband, interior designer Austin Harrelson. The couple have two daughters and one son.
