All clothing Gucci Women’s Fall/Winter 2023.

Gucci’s enduring legacy is grounded in constant revitalization. The Italian house’s Fall/Winter 2023 Women’s collection is an homage to the lush ecosystem of designers and artisans who have pooled their knowledge over the course of the brand’s first century. Last February, the collection made its debut in Milan at the Gucci Hub, outfitted for the occasion in bold yellow carpeting and filled with concentric rings of guests, slotted into the space like layers of a nesting doll.

The show opened with a look that mixed the playful and the classic: a barely there chainmail bikini top paired with opera gloves and a full-length skirt. A procession of sequins, jewels, and voluptuous faux furs followed, their splendor balanced by sleek tailoring and a discerning eye. the show concluded with an outpouring of applause for members of the house’s design team, who joined in a collective bow.

Rather than an individual take on the house’s historic legacy, this runway presented a unified vision of who the Gucci woman has always been: eccentric, daring, and effortlessly elegant. Photographer Drew Jarrett, with his affinity for cinematic lighting and emotionally evocative staging, captures the collection on models Isha Senghore, Xue Huizi, and Julia Belyakova. The bold presentation of heritage codes is filtered through the prism of shared memory, bringing the house’s legacy to life in new, colorful ways.
